At Johnson Elementary, each student has two-30 minute classes of music instruction each week. Students learn to express themselves through performing music, creating and improvising music, studying the theory of music, and discussing the aesthetic evaluation of music.

Every student, first through fifth grade, is involved in one musical or concert each year. The fifth grade students perform a musical in November. Third and fourth grade students produce the winter program in December. First and second grade students perform a concert in the spring.

All third grade students are given the district's written and performance music assessments in the fall and in the spring. Students in all grades are assessed through music performance and written work

All fifth grade students attend a Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra concert. They also attend a special concert performed by the Webber band, orchestra and choir in preparation for their Middle School years' music choices.  Also, 4th and/or 5th grade students can audition for the Poudre School District’s Honor Choir concert.

Husky Choir is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. This choir meets Monday mornings each week before school and occasionally on Friday mornings. The choir performs in two concerts during the school year and sometimes at school events and assemblies. This year we are hoping to perform more in the community.  Please contact Ms. Mathias if you have an event or community place for us to perform.
