Kindergarten

We want all Kindergartners at Johnson to love school and to be excited to come every day. We enjoy creating an environment that allows children to actively participate in their learning. Children are encouraged to express their creativity through play, storytelling, music, and art. We strive to teach kids to be responsible, kind, hardworking, respectful and to be a good friend. In addition to these social skills, we learn about letters and sounds which leads into reading and writing. We also focus on number sense to introduce addition and subtraction. We stress that we learn by mistakes, and we all make mistakes. The amount of growth that happens during the kindergarten year is phenomenal. It represents an important developmental milestone as your child transitions from being a very young child into being a student and we believe the process should be a fun, positive and engaging experience.
