What is your favorite thing about working with students at Johnson?:

My favorite thing about working with students at Johnson is their passion and fun in learning new things in music.  Their creativity, spark, and curiosity in class are a joy!

What is your educational background?:

This is my 16th year of teaching music, and this is my seventh year at Johnson.  I taught elementary music in Denver for six years and taught middle school and high school choir.  I earned my bachelor's degree in music education with a vocal emphasis from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.  From Colorado State University, I have my levels 1 and 2 in the Kodaly Methodology.  I have a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.

What are some of your hobbies?:

I love learning and expanding my ukulele-playing skills.  I sing lead, harmonies, and play piano parts with the FOCO Teacher band.  When not performing music, I enjoy baking, hiking, paddle boarding, and exploring Colorado.

What is your favorite book?:

My favorite book is Ella Enchanted.

What do you think makes Johnson a special place?:

The fun and caring students and staff make Johnson a special place.  Their support and understanding of others is incredible!
